The CCST Farmers Market successfully ended yesterday, with another large crowd, brisk sales and uplifting community fellowship. Kudos to Jim Ryan and family, who organized the market and its many details from start to finish; Nancy Finn, Jack McKendrick, Rocio Ramos and Bill Stahlin, who contributed in various ways by serving the residents and customers.
The Farmers Market, a $2000 Operation Rice Bowl grant, wound up returning $2500 in sales to the Operation Rice Bowl fund. Coupled with the grant amount, this means approximately $4500 in sales were recorded, usually in sales of under $10.
At this week's CCST team meeting, it was agreed that Jim Ryan and others will assess the market experience, and develop a model for the market to promote next spring among other communities and parishes. So even in this Farmers Market, there were plenty of seeds planted for future harvest.
